About

Live to Inspire —  Dream Possible.

Heyyyyy! Super excited you stopped by–I appreciate it.

This website and blog is dedicated to inspire and encourage purpose driven entrepreneurs, authors, professionals, ministry leaders–anyone wanting to fully maximize their potential in life, business, spiritual, personal, and professional endeavors.

I KNOW that you’re here on purpose, so I can’t wait for you to dive in to more.

Here’s a little of my story:

I was trucking along through life when I realized, this just isn’t working. I was trying to fulfill my plan in life, but nothing seemed to work. It took some years, but I finally realized that it wasn’t about the job or career, but about me finding purpose in life. Deep within, there was always a passion & desire to encourage and inspire people to push forward in life, no matter the obstacles. Proudly, I share that I am a former at-risk youth, first generation college student, and product of a single parent home.  Inevitably, the odds were against me; however, I proudly tell others, I defied them all! I am now working on my Doctorate, authored two books, co-hosted & hosted my own TV shows, and I’m currently working as the creator, executive producer and co-host to my very own show. I’m telling you, living on purpose is MORE than what I could have imagined. Once I let go of what it was “supposed” to look like, my plan, I started to live abundantly.  If you’re interested, check out my newly released book, Dream Big: 33 Lessons for the Purpose-Driven Entrepreneur, that chronicles every twist and turn of my purpose-driven journey (you can get it FREE here) Please, make sure you grab a copy, I want you to be inspired too.

You know, no matter what I’ve been through personally and professionally, I continue to climb new entrepreneurial heights and experience divine opportunities. I’m grateful for the adversities that shaped me. Even my genius plan of “getting a great education, finding a secure job with good benefits & retirement plan,” it was purposeful. Honestly (and now I can say this after finally being OK with it) I’m glad it never worked.  It wasn’t meant to follow the comfortable cookie cutter plan I had (and others had) for my life.  I was always meant to pursue a higher calling!  Thankfully, I said yes early on, and little by little everything “fell into place.”

Today, I’m elated that I get to inspire the purpose-driven community (You) to become all you were designed to be.

I hope you connect with me on this journey as WE continue to push through life.

I’m the Momma! Smile!
I just wanted to express my deepest adimiration for a daughter that has taken the seemingly difficult lessons in life that came to destroy everything about her which allowed God to purify her by “burning out the dross,” the stuff that he would not allow to tarnish his plans for her life and “created in her a clean heart renewed a right spirit within her.” Psalms 51:10 Which is an image of himself. I am so Godly proud–Can’t wait for when we work together again, destroying demonic forces that have tried to trick God’s people. “Prophecy as I have commanded and they shall live.” Ezekiel 37:10

Hey! Saw your comment on my post and looked at your blog…I’m really looking forward to reading this! I worked with a number of “at risk” students when I taught high school and I loved the experience. I disagreed with several of the methods used by some of my colleagues when they worked with the “at risk” students and I had all sorts of, um, shall we say, spirited arguments with them…

Can’t wait to dig in to your writing!

Wow, thank you very much 🙂 The at-risk community is definitely my heart… I’m planning on creating scholarships and an organization geared towards mentorship, counseling, and assistance to help them fill out FAFSA, MPNs, etc… I really have a few things up my sleeve. Just waiting on the right time and resources to present themselves lol.

I will definitely be back to browse your page again!!

“The adversities and challenges that I have faced were not for myself alone, but for others to become motivated and inspired to want more out of life; I want to help them shake off the past and move forward towards the future.” This is exactly how I feel about my life. Though the adversities and challenges I have faced are different than yours, God will use us both to be a blessing to others.

Dear glakia:

My name is Leora Trub and I am a student in the Clinical Psychology Ph.D. Program at The Graduate Center of the City University of New York (CUNY). I am conducting a study of the reasons that people blog and what benefits it brings, which at this point are still largely unexplored in research studies. I am therefore reaching out to you as a blogger who can help deepen our understanding of this phenomenon. I believe that your voice is an important one to be heard and hope you will enjoy participating in the study. I have developed an online questionnaire that asks about specific aspects of blogging as well as asking about feelings about yourself and others in your life. The survey is a mix of numerical scales and opportunities to reflect in an open-ended format about the role of blogging in your life, and how it has changed over time.

You are eligible to participate if you are at least 21 years of age and have been maintaining an English-language personal blog for at least six months that you update or visit at least twice a week (on average). Your participation involves completing a confidential online questionnaire. The data will be downloaded onto a secure server to which only I have access. No identifying information, such as your names or address, will be collected. If you desire, you may choose not to share your blog name, in which case I will not access your blog for any reason after this point. If you do share your blog name, it will NOT be connected to your responses in the survey. Additionally, you will be given the opportunity to be identified by a code name in research reports and to have your blog description changed slightly so it cannot be identified.

The survey takes approximately 45 minutes to complete and participation is completely voluntary. Three participants who complete the survey will be randomly selected by a lottery to receive a $75 cash prize.

There are no foreseeable risks to participation in the study. Although some of the questions are personal in nature, participation in the study provides an opportunity to think about the role that your blog plays in your life.

If you have any questions about this research, you can contact me at (732) 407-7928 or ltrub@gc.cuny.edu, or my advisors Dr. Arietta Slade at (212) 650-5658 or asladephd@earthlink.net and Dr. Tracey Revenson at (212) 817-8709 or trevenson@gc.cuny.edu.

The study has been approved by the Institutional Review Board of the Graduate School of the City University of New York and meets of their guidelines as well as all state and federal guidelines for research with human participants. If you have any concerns about the project at any time, you can contact Ms. Kay Powell, Institutional Review Board at the Graduate School of the City University of New York (212) 817-7525 or kpowell@gc.cuny.edu.

In order to participate in this study, I need to send you an invitation through survey monkey. If you are interested, please send an email to ltrub@gc.cuny.edu from the email address to which you would like the invitation sent. I hope that you will decide to participate and also that you will share it with others if you decide you would like to. Please feel free to contact me with any questions.

Ms. Kia – Well, aren’t you doing some big things!! While I am impressed, I’m not surprised at your level of vigor and interest to empower others!

You are reaching many people who are in need of such an inspirational message … How do I know?! Because Matt. 5:14 says that, “a light on a hill can’t be hidden—not even by a lampshade!”

So keep blazing trails and as for a quote that I coined, “leaders should be the light to knowledge and exposure as opposed to the door to failure and closure.” Keep being that light and please feel free to let me know what I can do to help support your goals, vision, and aspirations.

With much love,
Antoine

God bless you sweet girl. He did not come to heal the healthy, but the sick. I will pray for you as you continue to be a vessel for Him to work in in your ministry to women! What a passion, and what a life worth living.

I’m sorry I didn’t respond sooner. I actually taught at Hampton University for a bit. I enjoyed it, but I think I would like to teach when I’m a little older. I taught when I was 23 and that didn’t go as I expected 🙂 However, I will teach again, maybe next year. Thanks for inquiring!!! (And you didn’t sound like a spam comment hehehe)

My first time to check on such a wonderful blog. From Nairobi, Kenya I wish we could have a woman of integrity like you changing the lives of other women including my wife. My wife and me may not be educated but I pray for my son and two daughters to excel academically, irrespective of financial constrains. I wish they have your contacts via internet. You are inspiring madam. May God expand your territories to Kenya.

DOH! I hit “post” too soon. I meant to answer your question about supported employment. I am NOT very familiar with that term, as my son is still very young and my daughter likely won’t need assistance. Would love to hear more sometime!

hahahaah it’s ok, it happens 🙂 . And I guess you’re right, your children are still very young lol. But, supported employment assists individuals with disabilities to find employment. They basically advocate for them and speak with employers about hiring them. Once they get the job, the Vocational Counselor or aka Job Coach goes with them onsite to assist them with their job tasks until they are able to perform the duties by themselves. Depending on the severity of the disability, the VC could be with them up to a four months or until they decide not to work at that place anymore. It’s really a rewarding field to work in!!
